Institutional clothing (mixed rags) is used clothing generated by thrift and charity stores. It's the garments that were put on display and didn't sell — many still with their tags — plus clothing that never reached the floor due to minor defects, like a missing button or a stain. It's clothing only, no shoes or accessories, and it's sold wholesale in large bales. Sorters use it as raw material: a variety of styles and qualities, ready to go through and re-sort.
What this load includes
Clothing only
Garments only: shirts, pants, dresses and sweaters. No shoes, no toys, no bric-a-brac to discard.
Store leftovers
What was put on display and didn't sell (often still tagged) plus garments pulled for minor defects.
In large bales
Pressed into 800-1,200 lb bales and sold by the full load. Low cost per pound, serious volume.
